Wing & A Prayer Farm

Wing & A Prayer Farm is home to Ayam Cemani chickens in Northern Virginia, VA, near Washington, D.C. Rhiannon Barreda has raised diverse poultry for several years, following guidelines set by national poultry associations and using routine health testing to monitor for common conditions. Each Ayam Cemani is given daily access to pasture, where they can scratch, peck, and forage under shelter but secure fencing. Coops are cleaned regularly, and feed is formulated to provide balanced nutrition without additives or antibiotics.

The farm started as a backyard project and has grown into a small-scale homestead focused on maintaining strong bloodlines and vibrant plumage. Visitors appreciate the calm temperament of the flock and the hands-on approach to early chick socialization. Barreda participates in state poultry club meetings and shares breeding updates with the community to support gradual improvements. Seasonal hatch schedules are adjusted to align with optimal weather, ensuring each chick flees extremes while developing natural hardiness.
