Black Witch Farm

Black Witch Farm, run by Suzanne Matteo, raises ayam cemani and other rare and critically endangered chicken breeds in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, in the western corner of the state near the Ohio border and not far from Youngstown, Ohio.

The farm is NPIP-certified and avian influenza clean, shipping fertile hatching eggs and chicks across the United States. Suzanne has been developing the farm's ayam cemani line over roughly five years, starting from a blend of original imported genetics sourced from two other farms and subsequently refining the flock toward the proposed breed standard. The program has also introduced new genetics through the Ayam Cemani Breeders Association to support long-term line quality.

Beyond ayam cemani, the farm raises an array of rare and heritage breeds including Deathlayers (Westfalischer Totleger), White-faced Black Spanish, La Flèche, French black copper Marans, and others. The birds are kept on a small homestead setting where they have access to grass and insects within a movable-fence free-range system. Eggs are gathered daily and properly stored before shipping.
