Dogs are not housed in traditional kennel runs; instead, they live as part of the family on a one-acre property with room to move outdoors and space inside to rest. Litters are whelped and raised in the home, where puppies are socialized alongside small children, cats, and other dogs from the earliest weeks of life.

Health testing is central to the program. All breeding dogs carry hip and elbow certification through either the German SV a-Stamp program or the OFA, and every dog is tested clear for degenerative myelopathy and the MDR1 gene mutation. West Coast German Shepherds focuses on German SV-standard bloodlines, breeding classic black and red/tan, sable, and solid black coats, and actively shows its dogs at the local, national, and international level to maintain consistent structure and type.
