Von Lahrheim
Von Lahrheim breeds German shorthaired pointers in Fairfield, California, about 40 miles northeast of San Francisco in Solano County. The program is rooted in a multi-generational family history — Julie Lahr-Toral's grandparents produced their first litter in 1950, and she resumed breeding independently around 1995 after the family program paused in the mid-1980s.
Over more than 30 years of breeding on her own, Julie has owner-finished 30 champions in conformation, making Von Lahrheim one of the more established German shorthaired pointer programs in Northern California. She holds AKC Advanced Breeder of Merit status and actively shows the dogs herself.
Rather than operating a traditional kennel, the dogs are raised in the home as part of the household. The program also includes Chihuahuas alongside the shorthairs. Families searching for German shorthaired pointer puppies in California from a long-running, show-active program will find that Von Lahrheim's depth of breed history is distinctive among regional breeders.
