Vom Haus Schair — Finest Import German Shepherd Puppies has been producing German shepherd dogs from European working bloodlines out of Gainesville, Georgia since 1975, when owner Richard Schair opened his first training kennel and began importing dogs from Germany for police work and sport. The program operates about an hour north of downtown Atlanta, in the foothills of northeast Georgia.

The kennel's foundation goes back to 1979, when its first registered litter produced "Alf vom Haus Schair SchH III," a Schutzhund and certified search-and-rescue dog whose attributes still inform the selection criteria used today. Richard — known to the working-dog community as "Rick" — has competed at local, regional, national, and international levels, qualifying for four WUSV World Teams and recording multiple 100-point tracking performances in IPO III competition.

Breeding is intentionally limited, with the program prioritizing drive, stability, and working ability drawn from West German working lines. All breeding stock carries certified hip and elbow results — either the German "A-stamp" or OFA certification — and dogs from the kennel have gone on to serve individual owners, law enforcement agencies, and the competitive working-dog community.
