Violet Hill Farm

Violet Hill Farm raises huacaya alpacas in the countryside outside Lexington, Kentucky, where owner Deb Schoenberg has built a small boutique farm focused on fiber production and hands-on agricultural education.

The farm sits in the heart of Bluegrass country, a region long recognized for its rich pastures, and that setting informs the program's emphasis on producing quality huacaya alpaca fiber alongside merino sheep. Violet Hill Farm is a member of the Alpaca Owners Association, the Kentucky Alpaca Association, and the Pacific Northwest Alpaca Association. It also holds Climate Smart Wool Producer status and is a Kentucky Proud member, reflecting a broader commitment to sustainable soil and land management practices.

The program's focus is fiber-forward: raw fleece is harvested and sent to mills to be processed into yarn, roving, and batts, with a wide range of natural colors available. Alpacas for sale in Kentucky and the surrounding region can be found here alongside the farm's working herd. Visitors are welcome to tour the farm, interact with the animals up close, and learn about fiber production from animal to finished product.
