Vera Earl Ranch
Vera Earl Ranch has been raising cattle in the Sonoita Valley of southern Arizona since 1968, making it one of the longer-running family operations in the region, about an hour southeast of Tucson. Ian Tomlinson, who manages the ranch alongside his family, continues a legacy started by his grandfather Burton Beck and later carried on by Ian's mother Cynthia Tomlinson.
The operation has grown over the decades by forming partnerships with and acquiring leases on neighboring historic ranches, including the Empire and Sands Ranches, stretching the overall range from the Santa Rita Mountains in the west across to the San Pedro River in the east. DoonCool cattle for sale in Arizona come from a program deeply rooted in this expansive high-desert landscape.
Bull selection at Vera Earl is driven by genetics focused on adaptability to the Arizona climate and measurable marbling traits. The grazing program follows a science-based rest-rotation system, with pasture utilization kept between 35 and 50 percent per rotation, and rangeland health is assessed at least twice yearly in coordination with the Bureau of Land Management and the Natural Resources Conservation Service. The ranch also holds third-party certifications for All-Natural, Non-Hormone Treated, and Age and Source Verified cattle, and has participated in the Safe Harbor Agreement for endangered species habitat since 2013.
