Twisted Heart Alpacas raises suri alpacas in Bayfield, Colorado, a rural community in the San Juan Mountains region of southwestern Colorado, roughly 20 miles east of Durango. Carolyn Woods operates the farm with a focus on breeding, showing, and sustainability — pillars that have shaped the program from the start.

The herd is made up exclusively of suri alpacas, and the farm has shown competitively in AOA-sanctioned events. Early results include recognition at the 2021 All Suri Fleece Show in the farm's first year of entry and a Ranch Hand Crystal Boot award at the 2021 Alpaca Breeders of the Rockies Fall Fest. By 2022, Twisted Heart Alpacas had earned a Top 10 National High Point designation in the New Breeder Small Suri Farm category, a walking fleece grey championship, and a "Best Hand" award for one of its animals.

The farm also participates in the Alpaca Owners Association's youth mentorship program, where young participants learn hands-on daily care and have the opportunity to show suri alpacas at both county fairs and AOA-sanctioned shows.
