Tollhaus Bernese Mountain Dogs has been raising Bernese mountain dogs in Canton, Georgia, in the Metro Atlanta area since Lynn Balsiger brought home her first berner in 1991 after encountering the breed firsthand in Switzerland. The kennel is a family operation run by three sisters, Lynn and Sue Balsiger and Pat Duryea, along with Pat's daughter Erica Arena, and all members are active in the day-to-day care and training of their dogs.

The family's roots in animals run deep, including decades of experience with horses, cattle, foxhounds, and field trial dogs before focusing on Bernese mountain dogs. All members hold active membership in the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America. The kennel follows a natural rearing philosophy, crediting that approach, combined with careful pedigree selection, for helping their dogs live past the average lifespan for the breed.

Tollhaus takes performance seriously, participating in obedience, rally, draft and carting, tracking, nose work, agility, dock diving, and therapy work. Their dogs have earned conformation championships, BMDCA Versatility awards, and Companion Dog titles, and Tollhaus holds notable records in dock diving among the small number of Bernese mountain dogs to compete in that sport.
