Thundering Eagle Farms

Thundering Eagle Farms raises Scottish Highland cattle in Bolivar, MO, southwest Missouri and the Ozarks near Springfield. With over a decade of breeding experience, David Powell and Colleen Powell participate in national cattlemen associations and perform routine health screenings. Calves are raised on pasture with year-round access to shelter, socialized daily from birth and rotate through rotational grazing to support pasture health.

The farm blends traditional husbandry with natural forage diets, reflecting a commitment to gentle handling and animal well-being. Several cattle have earned recognition at state fairs for their distinctive coats and calm temperaments. Their decades-long family legacy on the land fosters continuity of care and a focus on sustainable practices. They maintain membership in the American Highland cattle association, sharing breeding records to support transparency.
