The Brownderosa Llamas & Midwest Llama Packing
The Brownderosa Llamas & Midwest Llama Packing raises ccara (classic) llamas in Sparta, Wisconsin, in the heart of the Driftless Area of western Wisconsin, not far from La Crosse.
Kristy Brown and the farm got their start in llama packing after a first trip through the Swan Divide in Montana in 2008, and those trail experiences have shaped the direction of the program ever since. The focus is on high-end ccara-type pack llamas bred for proven trail ability alongside strong conformation, with breeding stock selected for athletic build, overall balance, correct frame, strong bone, and family history for reliable milk production.
Beyond the trail, the llamas are well socialized and worked with for 4-H use, making them suitable as pets, show animals, performance animals, or companion livestock. The farm also shears annually each spring to harvest the herd's fleece, which is processed through a fiber cooperative into finished products. Guided llama hikes and pack trips are offered out of the western Wisconsin farm, giving the operation a working dimension that goes beyond breeding alone. Those looking for ccara llamas for sale in Wisconsin from a program with real trail credentials will find the Brownderosa's dual focus on conformation and field use a practical starting point.
