Ten Seven Acres

Ten Seven Acres raises alpacas in Galchutt, North Dakota, about 30 minutes south of Fargo. Dirk and Jessie Monson operate the farm, which has grown from a modest homestead into a herd of 20 to 30 animals at any given time.

The program focuses primarily on fiber-producing huacaya alpacas, and the Monsons breed first for character and quality rather than show ribbons or bloodlines alone. Fiber from the herd is processed through their own mill, Yarn Factory, and turned into yarn, dryer balls, socks, and other finished textiles. Those looking for alpacas for sale in North Dakota will find both breeding stock and companion animals represented in the herd, which carries named animals with traceable individual fiber profiles.

The farm also opens its pasture and forest trail to visitors, giving the public a hands-on look at how the animals are kept and handled day to day.
