Tejas Alpacas

Tejas Alpacas, owned by Lynn Betts, raises huacaya and suri alpacas in Plantersville, Texas, northwest of Houston between Highway 6 and Interstate 45. The farm has built its herd around established, prominent bloodlines spanning a full range of colors, with an emphasis on animals well-suited to the Texas climate.

Over more than two decades, the program developed bloodlines drawing on Snowmass, Bolivian, and Peruvian genetics, and animals from the herd have placed at the Houston Livestock Show and earned recognition at events including the AOBA World Fleece Show and the TXOLAN Fiber Show. Fiber quality has been a consistent thread throughout the operation, with an eye toward fine, dense fleece and strong staple length across both huacaya and suri lines.
