Susie Duke

Susie Duke raises Nigerian dwarf dairy goats in central Iowa through Monarch Meadow Farm, situated roughly midway between Des Moines and Iowa City. The small-scale herd got its start in 2020, when the farm's first does were sourced from established dairy lines and the program quickly expanded to include artificial insemination using bucks from proven dairy stock.

All goats at Monarch Meadow Farm are ADGA registered, and the herd is also enrolled with the American Goat Society and the American Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Association. The farm holds active membership in the Iowa Dairy Goat Association as well. Health testing is a consistent priority: the herd is screened annually for CAE and Johne's disease, with results historically coming back clean.

Breeding goals at Monarch Meadow Farm center on conformation, milk production, temperament, and long-term health and longevity, with participation in linear appraisal and milk testing part of the program's ongoing development. The farm intentionally stays small, with an eye toward producing dairy crosses goats for sale in Iowa that reflect those focused selection goals. The property itself is managed to support pollinators, with monarch butterflies, swallowtails, and native bees regularly present across the grounds.
