Sunnyhill Alpacas

Sunnyhill Alpacas has been raising alpacas in Leduc County, Alberta, southeast of Edmonton, since 1998 — now in its 27th year of operation. Kevin and Leanne Sept founded the farm alongside partners Jim, Sharon, and Ann Adams, starting with just nine animals before building the herd into a full-time breeding program on 24 hectares of rolling land.

The farm raises both huacaya and suri alpacas, and the breeding program is guided by four core selection criteria: personality, fibre quality, conformation, and colour. That focus on fibre has been validated at open competition — Kevin Sept took home the Supreme Champion title at Agribition's alpaca show, where animals are evaluated 60 percent on fibre and 40 percent on conformation.

Alpacas for sale in Alberta can be found at operations with deep roots in the provincial industry, and Sunnyhill stands among the longer-running programs in the region. Leanne is also a co-owner of Twisted Sisters & Company Fibre Mill, a family venture run with her sisters that processes the farm's annual clip into yarn and finished goods. That direct connection to the mill has given Kevin and Leanne a hands-on understanding of fibre characteristics that informs how they select and manage their herd. Sunnyhill is registered with Alpaca Canada and the Canadian Llama and Alpaca Association (CLAA).
