Stargazer Ranch Alpacas

Stargazer Ranch Alpacas has been raising huacaya alpacas in Loveland, Colorado since the late 1990s, making it one of the longer-running alpaca programs along Colorado's Front Range, about 45 minutes north of Denver. John Heise and Cynthia Fronk built the ranch from the ground up, with John converting the property into a working livestock operation and Cynthia bringing hands-on management of daily ranch life.

The breeding program is built around genetics and objectively measured fiber data rather than guesswork. Bloodlines trace back to the Accoyo Estancia and other top-tier Peruvian sources, selected specifically for fineness, increasing density, and overall fiber quality. Breeding and purchase decisions are guided by EPDs and hands-on evaluation, with the long-term goal of producing white and light-colored alpacas that push the quality ceiling for natural fiber.

Beyond raising breeding-quality alpacas for sale in Colorado and beyond, the ranch has been active in education, hosting neonatal clinics and ongoing programs for newer breeders. Ranch tours are offered year-round and can include fiber demonstrations covering spinning, weaving, and felting, reflecting the ranch's dual focus on genetic improvement and community knowledge-sharing.
