Standard Poodle Pups has been raising standard poodles in Meadowbrook, California — a small community near Lake Elsinore in Riverside County, southeast of the Los Angeles metro area — since its founding in 2000. Victoria Schatt launched the program with two foundation dogs, Sugar and Rolf, and welcomed the first litter in January 2002, making this one of the longer-running standard poodle breeding programs in Southern California.

Temperament is the program's primary breeding goal. Victoria selects for emotional stability and trainability above all else, and that focus has resulted in a notable number of graduates going on to work as emotional support animals, therapy dogs, and service dogs.

All breeding dogs undergo comprehensive health testing that goes beyond standard CHIC requirements, with screening for genetic conditions and a priority on structural soundness. Puppies are born and raised inside the home — in the bedroom and living room — and are socialized alongside a mixed household of dogs, cats, chickens, turkeys, and pigs before going to their new families. Each pup leaves crate trained, introduced to basic commands, and microchipped. The program also holds a UKC conformation champion among its retired dogs, reflecting a commitment to breed type alongside temperament.
