Sherry Shepherd

Sherry Shepherd, Nigerian dwarf goats, Huntington, West Virginia, in the Appalachian region near Charleston. Shepherd has been breeding for more than a decade and maintains membership with the American Dairy Goat Association and a local breeders’ club.

Shepherd began with a single registered doe and now oversees a herd of more than 20 animals, all tested for CAE, CL and Johne’s. Her nigerian dwarf kids spend early weeks indoors with family members before moving to grassy paddocks to encourage natural browsing and social interaction. Nutrition is based on quality hay, balanced grain rations and trace mineral supplements formulated for lactating does.

Some offspring have earned junior herdsmanship awards at state fairs, reflecting strong breed type. The gently rolling pastures and dedicated daily care help each goat thrive and develop calm, friendly temperaments.
