Shalimar Farm

Shalimar Farm raises Scottish highland cattle in Green Bank, WV, Pocahontas County and the Allegheny Mountains near Charleston. Under the care of Mickey Dieke, the farm has been raising herds for over fifteen years, holding membership in the American Highland Cattle Association and participating in regional fairs with regular veterinary health screening and genetic assessments.

Cattle roam rotational pastures year-round, receive mineral supplementation, and calves are handled daily to build a calm disposition and resilience to seasonal weather. Rooted in a century-old family tradition, the farm’s breeding program emphasizes maternal strength and structural soundness, drawing on pedigrees that include champion dam lines. Management practices focus on environmental stewardship, with no chemical pesticides on pastures, soil restoration efforts and habitat support for native wildlife. The result is a herd known for steady temperament and adaptability, suitable for both small-scale homesteads and larger sustainable operations.
