Shadowmyst Labradors

Shadowmyst Labradors, run by Julie McVay out of Oskaloosa in southeast Iowa, has been breeding Labrador retrievers for more than 30 years. The program focuses on producing dogs that are sound in both body and mind, with an emphasis on typical breed type, biddable temperament, intelligence, and natural hunting ability.

OFA health clearances and DNA testing are part of the breeding program, and the dogs behind the kennel carry conformation and performance titles spanning a wide range of venues. Shadowmyst dogs have competed in hunt tests, agility, tracking, barn hunt, scent work, rally, obedience, and therapy work, and many puppy buyers have gone on to earn performance titles of their own in those same sports.
