Secret World Alpacas

Secret World Alpacas, run by Jennie Mezick, has been raising huacaya alpacas along the Choptank River in Preston, Maryland since 2011. The farm sits on the Eastern Shore, roughly an hour southeast of Annapolis, giving the herd a quiet, rural setting with riverside grazing.

The farm maintains close to three dozen alpacas, and fiber production is central to what Mezick does here. Fleece shorn from the herd is spun, woven, knitted, and felted on-site into a range of goods, with some yarn sent to outside mills and some hand-spun at the farm itself. Those looking for alpacas for sale in Maryland will find that Secret World carries huacaya breeding stock as well as herd sires.

Visitors are welcome to tour the property and even attend shearing days, which the farm opens to the public. Herdsire services and boarding for alpacas while new owners prepare their own land are also part of what the operation offers.
