Saltmarsh Ranch

Saltmarsh Ranch, Soay sheep, Jacksonville, OR, Jackson County and the Rogue Valley near Medford. Steve Weaver and Priscilla Weaver have raised these compact, hardy sheep for more than a decade, taking part in national breed registry programs and maintaining regular health testing for hoof and parasite management. Their flock grazes on rotational pastures and they maintain daily interaction to build a calm, well-socialized herd. Lambing occurs in natural shelters designed to mimic rolling hillsides, and sheared fleeces are evaluated for fiber quality at local cooperative facilities.

As a small family operation, Saltmarsh Ranch emphasizes heritage preservation and sustainable farming practices. The ranch collaborates with area fiber artists to support a local tradition of handspun yarns and natural dyes.
