Russell's Alpaca Acres
Russell's Alpaca Acres raises huacaya alpacas in Burdett, New York, in the heart of the Finger Lakes region, roughly midway between Ithaca and Watkins Glen. Jean Russell founded the farm in 2012, starting with five female alpacas on two acres before growing the herd over time.
The farm has since expanded to seven acres and has developed a herd of over thirty animals. Beyond breeding and raising alpacas for sale in New York, the operation also produces fiber goods and maintains an on-farm store where visitors can browse alpaca products firsthand. Farm tours are offered to anyone curious about the alpaca lifestyle, and Jean and her husband have drawn on their own mentored beginnings to help guide others who are considering starting their own herds.
