Rocky Box Ranch

Rocky Box Ranch breeds registered AKC Anatolian shepherd dogs in Bigfork, Montana, along the Swan River in the Swan Valley, situated between the Mission Mountains and the Bob Marshall Wilderness — roughly an hour east of Kalispell.

Jake Box and his family built the ranch from raw land, and the Anatolian shepherd program grew directly out of a practical need: the Swan Valley is home to coyotes, mountain lions, black bears, wolves, and a recently reintroduced grizzly bear population. The dogs are kept as working livestock guardian dogs for Anatolian shepherd puppies in Montana, and all breeding stock is AKC registered.

Pups at Rocky Box Ranch are raised outdoors from birth and socialized alongside the full range of animals on the property, including cattle, horses, hogs, chickens, and turkeys. The ranch is a member of the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America (ASDCA), and the program centers on maintaining the working guardian traits the breed was developed for rather than conformation alone.
