Rocking R Red Angus
Rocking R Red Angus is a family-run registered red Angus cattle operation established in 2010 by Dan and Katie Reardon, now based in the Wildcat Hills of western Nebraska, near Scottsbluff. The operation has deep roots in cattle ranching — Dan's mother grew up raising red Angus in eastern Colorado, his father's family ran a cattle operation in southern Colorado, and Katie's great-grandfather raised cattle in northern New Mexico.
Originally operating at high altitude in western Colorado, the Reardons made a deliberate move to Nebraska to expand their cow herd and access greater grazing capacity. The steep, rugged terrain of their Nebraska ranch shapes how they select cattle: females are expected to be efficient, fertile, and highly functional in a demanding environment — traits that have guided the program since its founding.
The operation shifted fully to registered red Angus from a previous black Angus program, drawn by rapid improvements in carcass quality and a long-standing affinity for the breed. Buyers looking for red Angus cattle for sale in Nebraska will find a program built on multi-generational ranching knowledge and genetics developed to perform across varied and challenging conditions. The Reardon children, Nolan and Lyla, work alongside their parents, keeping the operation a true family ranch.
