Riedel Alpaca Ranch

Riedel Alpaca Ranch breeds alpacas in Tebbetts, MO, in central Missouri near Jefferson City. Ron and Renee Riedel have been working with alpacas for over a decade, maintaining thorough breeding records and following alpaca association health-testing standards to ensure the well-being of each animal.

Their herd is raised on managed pastures rich in native grasses, supplemented with specially formulated feed and regular veterinary checkups to support healthy growth. Daily handling by the Riedels and their children helps animals develop gentle, curious temperaments, and early exposure to fiber processing encourages calm behavior during shearing. Open-sided barns and shaded loafing areas provide protection from the elements while allowing social interaction among herd members.

Several alpacas from the ranch have been recognized for the fine quality of their fleece, prized by hand spinners and fiber artists for its softness and staple length. The ranch hosts occasional tours and educational visits, offering insight into sustainable farming practices and the unique qualities of alpaca fiber.
