Renegade Red & Whites

Renegade Red & Whites breeds Irish red and white setters in Aptos, California, south of Santa Cruz along the Monterey Bay coast. The program is run by Lisa Montgomery, whose focus from the start has been on producing dogs that can genuinely perform in the field rather than simply look the part in the show ring.

Field work drives the program's priorities. Lisa has hunted with her setters across a wide range of terrain, from the Mojave Desert to northeastern Washington, logging the miles needed to understand what the breed is capable of. That hands-on experience informed her decision to breed, and it shapes how she evaluates the dogs she produces. Her foundation dog, Trooper, earned the AKC Master Hunter Advanced title — a first in the breed's history in the United States.

Renegade aims to produce Irish red and white setter puppies in California that can compete in AKC conformation events while excelling as upland hunting dogs. Lisa is also a credentialed AKC hunt test judge, reflecting a long-standing commitment to seeing sporting dogs prove their working abilities. Litters are registered with both AKC and NAVHDA.
