Redland Red Angus

Redland Red Angus has raised registered and commercial red Angus cattle along the south bank of the Yellowstone River near Hysham, Montana, roughly an hour east of Billings in the heart of eastern Montana's rangeland. The operation grew out of the Eldering Ranch, a multi-generational family farm where irrigation from the Yellowstone has long been essential to surviving the region's persistent droughts.

The family entered registered red Angus in 1985, building a herd under the trademark phrase "Better Bred Red" after founder Ole Eldering secured that herd tattoo. Today the operation spans multiple generations, with members of the Redland, Baue, and Moke families working together on the ranch and farm side by side. A second branch of the family runs a separate red Angus herd in north central Montana near Choteau.

Selection has centered on bulls that balance maternal strength, calving ease, growth, and marbling — traits documented through performance records going back decades. Several family members have served as directors with both the Montana Red Angus Association and the American Red Angus Association, reflecting a long-standing commitment to the breed at the state and national level. The ranch also offers Gelbvieh cattle alongside its red Angus program, with both registered and commercial bulls and females available.
