Raynay Alpaca Farm, LLC

Raynay Alpaca Farm, LLC raises suri alpacas on 100 acres in Ruffin, North Carolina, in the Piedmont Triad region of the state, roughly 30 miles north of Greensboro. Candy and Ray McMahan established the farm in 2007 when they purchased the property in Caswell County, and the herd has grown steadily since through both acquisitions and crias born on the farm.

The program focuses squarely on suri alpacas and has built a notable record on the national show circuit. Raynay has been recognized as the 2024 Futurity Suri Breeder of the Year for medium farms, and the farm has produced multiple AOA National Supreme Champions, including the 2021 AOA Supreme Dark Female and the 2024 AOA Supreme Dark Male. The farm has also earned recognition as the number-one High Point Halter Small Suri Breeder nationally.

The herd, which numbers around 60 animals, is housed in a 40-by-60 barn and kept on enclosed pastures fenced with no-climb fencing. Four Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs help protect the herd.
