Rattlesnake Creek Alpacas

Rattlesnake Creek Alpacas raises huacaya alpacas on a ranch along Argenta Road outside Dillon, Montana, in the wide rangelands of southwest Montana roughly 60 miles south of Butte. David and Tracey Roberts started the operation in 2012 and have built a herd notable for its color diversity, carrying animals representing nearly all 22 natural alpaca colors.

The breeding program at Rattlesnake Creek focuses on developing super-fine fleece, and the range of natural colors in the herd allows for deliberate color-pairing decisions in the breeding process. Fleece from the animals is shorn annually and used to produce handmade fiber products, keeping the connection between the ranch herd and finished goods direct. Those looking for alpacas for sale in Montana will find a program where fiber quality and color variety are central to how the herd is managed and developed.
