R.A. Brown Ranch

R.A. Brown Ranch has been raising red Angus cattle near Throckmorton, Texas, about an hour southwest of Wichita Falls, since its founding in 1895. Now in its fifth generation, the ranch is owned and managed by Donnell and Kelli Brown, who carry forward a seedstock tradition that stretches back more than 130 years.

The program maintains extensive records on over 1,000 head of registered cows alongside a commercial cow herd, with a focus on fertility, feet and udder quality, docility, and carcass merit. The ranch has been carcass-testing cattle for two decades, using that data to ensure its genetics perform for commercial cow-calf producers. Beyond red Angus, the ranch also raises Angus and SimAngus cattle, as well as Quarter Horses. Annual production sales have been held on the ranch in Throckmorton since 1974, and a cooperator herd network extends the reach of RAB genetics across the country.
