Quarry Critters Alpaca Ranch

Quarry Critters Alpaca Ranch raises ARI-registered alpacas in Littlestown, Pennsylvania, in the rolling farm country of south-central PA, roughly 30 miles south of Harrisburg. Julie and David Wysong run the operation as a retirement endeavor, and David brings more than 18 years of hands-on experience raising, breeding, and handling alpacas.

The ranch focuses on huacaya alpacas and is active in the show circuit, having competed at venues including the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. Animals are registered through ARI, and the program offers both breeding stock and herdsires available for stud service to those searching for alpacas for sale in Pennsylvania.

Fiber from the herd is handled with care on multiple fronts: some fleece is hand-processed by Julie, some is contributed to the New England Alpaca Fiber Pool and the Pennsylvania Yarn Project sponsored by the PA Owners and Breeders Association, and select clips are sent to family-owned mini mills to be turned into yarn, roving, and rug yarn. The ranch also hosts the Alpaca Learning Studio, where prospective and current owners can take alpaca ownership courses, fiber processing classes, and spinning wheel lessons.
