Postems Standard Schnauzers

Postems Standard Schnauzers has been breeding standard schnauzers in Costa Mesa, California — in the heart of Orange County, close to Los Angeles — since 1995, when owner Patti Post launched the program with guidance from experienced breed mentors.

The program is built around conformation and performance, with pairings planned to meet the AKC breed standard as interpreted by the Standard Schnauzer Club of America. Pedigrees are selected so that the strongest traits are drawn from both sides, with the goal of producing dogs capable of competing in conformation, agility, obedience, rally, sheep herding, and tracking — as well as serving as family companions.

Health testing is a stated priority before any dog enters the breeding program. All breeding dogs are cleared for hip dysplasia, dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and eye cataracts, and only DCM-normal dogs are used.
