The herd traces to stock acquired in 2005, when the family traveled to northern Minnesota to bring home their first Dexters. Biosecurity has been a deliberate part of the operation since early on, with all cattle transactions handled at a dedicated secondary location separate from the main farm. Sires in the program are selected with genetic health in mind — current and upcoming bulls are tested chondro and PHA free, carry the A2A2 milk protein gene, and are homozygous polled, reflecting a consistent focus on heritable traits that matter to buyers seeking Dexter cattle in Wisconsin.
