Plum Creek Little Cattle Co

Plum Creek Little Cattle Co raises Dexter cattle from a multi-generational family farm in the rolling farmland of west central Wisconsin, near Somerset and about an hour east of the Twin Cities metro area. The operation is run by a brother-sister team, with Steven Wood among those at the helm, and the farm itself has been continuously owned and operated by the same family since 1933.

The herd got its start with Dexters in the spring of 2005, when the family made the transition from Holsteins and acquired their first animals from northern Minnesota. The name comes naturally from the land: the back of the farm forms the headwaters of Plum Creek.

The program's focus is on producing quality Dexter cattle for sale as breeding stock, with an emphasis on maintaining the breed's dual-purpose body type suited for both dairy and beef. All animals are DNA tested, parent verified, and registered free of chondrodysplasia and PHA. Plum Creek Little Cattle Co holds membership in both the American Dexter Cattle Association and the Purebred Dexter Cattle Association, and cattle can be registered with either organization.
