Plum Creek Alpacas

Plum Creek Alpacas raises huacaya alpacas in Prescott Valley, Arizona, about 30 minutes from the city of Prescott. Brian Smith and Valerie Reiser founded the ranch in September 2017 after transitioning from careers in the city to rural life, getting their start with no prior livestock experience.

The program grew quickly into a competitive national breeding operation, earning recognition on the show circuit that includes a 2025 national champion fawn male fleece, a 2023 national champion grey female walking fleece, and rankings among the top national fleece producers for huacaya farms in multiple years. Brian handles breeding decisions, show travel, and herd management, while Valerie oversees day-to-day ranch operations and works closely with the animals during deliveries and daily care, including spinning raw fleece into yarn and creating fiber products on site.

Beyond breeding, Plum Creek Alpacas serves as a registered Alpaca Owners Association mentor farm, offering one-on-one mentorship, clinics, and opportunities for 4-H and FFA youth to engage with the alpaca industry.
