Peapod Farms

Peapod Farms raises Leicester longwool sheep in Suffolk, VA in the Hampton Roads region near Norfolk. The family operation led by Tyler Kester and Alissa Kester has been breeding these sturdy sheep for over a decade and maintains registration with a national sheep association to uphold breed standards.

Every lamb grows up with daily gentle handling, year-round access to rotationally grazed pastures, and shelter tailored to local weather patterns. Regular health screening, parasite management, and nutritional planning support the flock’s wellbeing. They practice rotational grazing to preserve pasture health and reduce parasite loads naturally.

Several of their ewes have earned ribbons at nearby county fairs and their soft, lustrous fleece attracts fiber artists across southeastern Virginia. The Kesters focus on calm temperaments and strong maternal lines to nurture a flock that thrives on the farm’s mixed-grass fields. The farm also offers raw fleeces for local spinners seeking heritage wool.
