Onyon Farm

Onyon Farm breeds Scottish Highland cattle in Rt. 848 Mew Mulford, PA, in the Allegheny Plateau near Pittsburgh. Established more than fifteen years ago, the farm follows recommended health screening protocols, conducts routine veterinary assessments and works with recognized breed organizations to maintain genetics and well-being.

The cattle graze on mixed-species pastures and rotational paddocks through spring and summer, with sheltered loafing areas available year-round to ensure comfort in changing seasons. Daily handling by John Onyon and family members focuses on gentle socialization, helping the cattle develop calm dispositions, easy adaptability to different settings and positive responses to routine care.

As a multigenerational farm rooted in family tradition, Onyon Farm balances traditional husbandry techniques with ongoing learning, and visitors often remark on the herd’s steady temperament and the farmstead’s rolling landscape. Beef cattle are raised for sustainable production and the farm also provides breeding stock to nearby operations on request.
