Oak Creek Berners

Oak Creek Berners raises Bernese mountain dogs in Wolcott, Indiana, a rural community roughly an hour and a half northwest of Indianapolis and about the same distance southeast of Chicago. Anne Wagenbach and her family have been raising puppies since 2002, bringing more than two decades of experience in animal husbandry and genetics to their program.

Health and temperament are the central focus at Oak Creek. Parent dogs are screened through OFA testing for hips, elbows, and heart, along with CAER eye certification and DNA-based genetic testing before being admitted to the breeding program. The program follows the health testing guidelines of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America and breeds to the AKC standard. Puppies come from AKC champion lines and are raised with the family's children, giving each litter early and consistent socialization with people of all ages.

Crate training begins around six weeks of age, and each puppy is vet checked and microchipped before going home. Oak Creek also offers an incentive for families who pursue the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification with their dog. In addition to Bernese mountain dog puppies for sale in Indiana, the program also produces standard poodle crosses as a secondary offering.
