Mushrush Red Angus

Mushrush Red Angus raises registered red angus cattle in Strong City, Kansas, in the heart of the Flint Hills region about 60 miles southwest of Topeka. The operation spans roughly 8,000 acres of native tallgrass prairie across Chase County, where the cattle are developed on native grass and tested in rugged terrain.

Four generations of the Mushrush family work and live on the ranch, a program that now spans more than eight decades of ranching in the Flint Hills. The registered herd includes around 550 cows split evenly between spring and fall calving herds, with the program aimed squarely at commercial cattle producers looking for red angus bulls for sale in Kansas.

Selection focuses on moderate-framed, easy-fleshing individuals with natural thickness and the capacity to hold large amounts of forage alongside a growing calf. Genetically, the program targets low birth weight calving ease direct (CED) EPDs paired with low maintenance energy, along with strong fertility indicators including heifer pregnancy and stayability EPDs. Bulls are developed slowly on native grass and evaluated in the challenging terrain of the family's retired rock quarry. All bulls are guaranteed for breeding soundness, structural soundness, and disposition for six months following a sale.
