Meyer Company Ranch

Meyer Company Ranch has been raising red Angus cattle in the Blackfoot River Valley of Helmville, Montana since 1990, when founder Robert Meyer established the operation with the goal of returning to his agricultural roots. The ranch sits in Powell County, roughly an hour's drive east of Missoula, and has grown over the years into one of the larger working ranches in the valley, spanning some 22,000 acres.

The program runs both a registered red Angus seedstock herd and a commercial cow herd, with herd development built through selective AI breeding, embryo transfer, and an intensive culling process. The focus on seedstock is oriented toward producing bulls and replacement females that carry balanced, economically important traits — fertility, calving ease, carcass quality, and reliable feed conversion — traits the ranch identified as a strong fit for the Montana environment when it transitioned from Simmental cattle to red Angus in 1990.

On the husbandry side, Meyer Company Ranch raises its cattle without added hormones or antibiotics and feeds a vegetarian diet with no animal by-products. The operation has converted flood ground to pivot-irrigated pasture and incorporated cover crops to extend grazing seasons. Each year's calf crop is certified natural by an independent third party and enrolled in the Meyer Natural Angus program. Meyer Company Ranch is a member of both the Red Angus Association of America and the Montana Red Angus Association.
