May Day Acres

May Day Acres is a small family ranch in Eagle, Colorado, raising Gypsy Vanner horses and ponies in the heart of the Eagle River Valley, about 30 miles west of Vail. Sarah Metcalf Burgard manages the ranch and has been breeding and showing Gypsy Vanners since 2009.

Foal pairings are planned around conformation, movement, and temperament, with all stock verified through DNA testing and registry evaluations. Horses compete on the Gypsy breed circuit as well as in disciplines including dressage, driving, and working equitation before entering the breeding program. The ranch's lead stallion, Dakota Spirit Ori, is a Gypsy Vanner Horse Society Hall of Fame stallion and a multiple national champion across western, dressage, and trail disciplines.

Mares are attended at each foaling, and foals receive daily handling from birth through sale, alongside herd time to develop naturally. Breeding services, including shipped cooled and frozen semen, are available to outside mares.
