Maui Alpaca

Maui Alpaca is a small alpaca breeder in Makawao, HI, serving Maui County on the island of Maui near Kahului. Owner Janet Baldwin participates in the Alpaca Owners Association and adheres to recommended health screening and vaccination protocols for all animals. The alpacas live in pasture-based herds with access to shelter around the clock and receive daily handling to support gentle temperaments and strong social bonds.

The farm practices rotational grazing to protect pastures and ensure steady forage for all animals. Each cria receives individualized attention from birth and is introduced to handling and grooming exercises during its first weeks of life. The farm emphasizes fiber quality, offering animals with fine, uniform fleeces prized by local artisans. Monthly farm visits welcome prospective owners to meet the herd in lush grasslands and learn about proper alpaca husbandry. They host seasonal fiber workshops on site to connect owners and artisans and share insight on fleece preparation and spinning.
