Magic Berners

Magic Berners has been raising Bernese mountain dogs in Orange, California, since Bruce Berners and his wife Diane brought their first Berner home from Colchester, England in 1982. Located in Southern California near the greater Los Angeles area, the program represents one of the longer-standing Bernese mountain dog breeding operations in the state.

Bruce is a veterinarian and Diane is a psychologist and a magician — and the kennel's name comes directly from one of the Berners appearing in Diane's magic act as the "Psychic Dog." The dogs are raised in the home alongside dedicated staff who help care for them around the clock.

Starting in 2000, Magic Berners began showing its dogs in conformation, and the program also competes in obedience, draft, and performance events. The dogs receive daily two-mile walks, regular brushing and bathing, and conditioning sessions on an underwater treadmill, which the program uses to build muscle tone and protect joints.
