Machenry

Machenry has been raising Labrador retrievers in Hunter, New York since 1983, making it one of the longer-running labs programs in the Catskill Mountains region, about an hour and a half southwest of Albany. Elisabeth Henry-Macari leads the program, which has built its reputation over four decades in the Hudson Valley.

Health testing is a consistent part of the breeding approach. Parent dogs are evaluated through OFA, CERF, Optigen, and Embark, covering hips, eyes, and genetic markers relevant to the breed. The program has produced both champion bench dogs and working hunting dogs, though the stated goal has always been to raise Labrador retriever puppies suited for life as family companions. Accountability to puppy buyers is something the program takes seriously, with a stated commitment that extends for the life of each dog.
