Lucky N Highlands

Lucky N Highlands, Scottish highland cattle, Peru, IA, breeds hardy stock for Fayette County and the Cedar Rapids area. Since its founding, it has maintained membership in the American Highland Cattle Association and follows recommended health testing for calving ease and genetic diversity.

Calves are raised on open pastures and receive daily handling to support a gentle temperament while grazing native grasses and clover. Owner Nichole Hauck draws on family farming roots to record each animal’s growth and ensure consistent herd wellbeing. The farm’s low-stress approach and attention to natural behaviors result in cattle known for balanced horn development and robust coats.

Keeping herd sizes modest allows close monitoring of nutrition and health milestones. Many local farmers appreciate the herd’s predictable calving cycles and easygoing nature. Night shelters are cleaned daily and cattle have access to fresh water year-round thanks to a spring-fed trough system.
