Lorlyn Labradors

Lorlyn Labradors has been breeding Labrador retrievers in East Haddam, Connecticut since 1993, making it one of the longer-running programs for Labrador retriever puppies in the Connecticut River Valley region, roughly an hour southeast of Hartford. Owner Lori L. Riley focuses exclusively on English-type Labs, the stockier, blockier-headed style seen in the conformation ring, and competes with her dogs in both conformation and dock diving.

All breeding adults are health tested before being bred, with clearances covering OFA hips and elbows, eye certifications, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), exercise-induced collapse (EIC), and the dilute gene, among others. Females are typically retired from breeding by age six or after a limited number of litters, reflecting a deliberate approach to the long-term welfare of the dogs in the program.

Lori holds membership in the Pawcatuck River Labrador Retriever Club and has served in a leadership role within that organization. Puppies are placed on limited AKC registration as a standard practice, with co-ownership considered only in select cases.
