Little Hoof Ranch

Little Hoof Ranch raises Dexter cattle just south of Douglas, Wyoming, at the foot of the Laramie Mountains along the North Platte River corridor — roughly an hour east of Casper. Donald and Becky Swisher operate the ranch with a focus on quality beef and show animals, placing particular emphasis on temperament and conformation in their herd.

The ranch carries a well-documented show record in the Dexter cattle world. Little Hoof Ranch is home to the 2018 National Grand Champion Dexter bull, and the program has earned multiple national titles across bull, female, cow/calf, and steer classes through the early 2020s. At the ADCA National Shows, the Swishers received the Grand Champion Herdsmanship Award in 2024, the Reserve Grand Champion Herdsmanship Award in 2023, and the Premier Dexter Exhibitors Award at the Wyoming State Fair in 2015 — the first time that award was presented for the Dexter breed at that show.

Membership in the American Dexter Cattle Association, the Rocky Mountain Dexter Breeders Association, and the Missouri Dexter Breeders Association reflects the ranch's engagement with the broader Dexter community. The program also participates in youth initiatives; in 2020, Little Hoof Ranch donated a heifer to the Rocky Mountain Dexter Association Youth Heifer Program. Semen from ranch bulls is available for breeders seeking Dexter cattle for sale in Wyoming and the surrounding region. American Miniature Horses round out the livestock at the ranch.
