Little America Miniature Horses

Little America Miniature Horses raises miniature horses on a family-owned farm in Buda, Texas, just south of Austin at the edge of the Texas Hill Country. Tony W. Greaves has been working with miniature horses for over fifty years, a pursuit rooted in a multi-generational family tradition that stretches back through his parents' Shetland pony operation and his grandfather's horses before that.

The program's focus has long been on producing horses that are genuinely small, colorful, and correct in conformation. All horses are registered with the American Miniature Horse Association (AMHA), which requires animals to stand 34 inches or shorter. The stallion program has been built around carefully selected bloodlines, including World Grand Champions and descendants of the foundational Belgian stallion Orion-Light Van't Huttenest, with each generation aimed at improving on the last.

The farm carries a substantial herd spread across multiple pastures, and Tony is known for being able to recite the name, background, and pedigree of each horse from memory. The herd includes a wide range of coat types and colors, from solid bays, buckskins, and palominos to pintos, appaloosas, and pintaloosas. Little America has competed at the AMHA World Championship Show, and horses from this program have reached buyers across the United States and in countries including Australia, Scotland, Thailand, and Russia. Some graduates have also gone into therapy work through organizations serving hospitals and care facilities in the Austin area.
