Legendary Alpacas

Legendary Alpacas has been raising Huacaya alpacas on its ranch in Maypearl, Texas, about 40 minutes southwest of Dallas, for over 18 years. The Glasscocks — Gina and Devin — settled on the property in 2005, and the herd earned its first Color Champion title by 2007. Since then, the ranch has accumulated dozens of show awards across Walking Fleece, Fleece, and Performance categories.

The herd today numbers more than 60 Huacaya alpacas, with over 50 females and 10 males. Gina Glasscock tracks the history, health, lineage, and genetics of every animal, and the ranch's approach to breeding reflects a focus on productive animals with strong fleece quality. Gina serves as Vice President in Charge of Education for TxOLAN, the regional alpaca association, and chairs the Youth Committee for AOA, the national industry body. Fleece shorn annually from the herd is used on-site to produce handmade and hand-dyed goods, with remaining fiber processed into additional alpaca products. The operation runs as a carbon-negative livestock enterprise, with alpaca compost collected daily for use in on-ranch gardens and for sale.
